Phase 1 – Job Benchmarking

In this phase, LEAD will meet with you to discuss the position that you are trying to fill and extract the key competencies and traits that the ideal candidate should possess to effectively execute the role. We will dig deep into the current state of your business to understand the current roles that are being filled and where the gaps are that this position is going to be required to fill. In mature businesses with established reporting structures and departments, this is fairly straightforward; however, in our experience with entrepreneurial companies we have found that positions can sometimes be less structured and will need some refining questions to name all of the abilities and training required (i.e. Will this person be an individual contributor or will they be leading a team? What degree of attention to detail will this person need to have to be an all-star employee?)

Phase 2 – Avatar Creation

In the Avatar creation phase, LEAD will aggregate all of the job requirements into an ideal candidate profile that we call the new hire avatar. This avatar represents the very best of each of the desired abilities and competencies. No single person will embody all of the traits named in the avatar, but it will act as an ideal for all candidates. This avatar can serve as the basis for your job posting to help you initially attract the right kinds of candidates.

Phase 3 – Candidate Identification

In this phase, your team will post the job and conduct preliminary interviews. LEAD will coach your team on how to conduct structured interviews and how to record your assessment of each candidate. We will also coach your team on the tangible and intangible things to look for in the phase: Chemistry, Competencies, Character and Culture fit. Your team will identify 3-5 candidates that you think are a good match for your organization.

Phase 4 – Blind Evaluation

Once your team has identified the final round of 3-5 candidates, LEAD will conduct assessments of each of your top candidates and will then present the candidates' profiles back to you in a “blind” presentation. In this presentation, you will see the personalities, motivators and competencies of each of your candidates compared to the avatar you originally created - but each profile will be anonymous. This process allows you and your hiring team to make a data-driven evaluation of each candidate without the emotional bias that is often present in the interview process. The results of this process can be confirming, or many times, can force your hiring team to go back and reevaluate your assessment of the candidates.

Phase 5 – Key Player Integration (optional)

In this phase, LEAD can present your new key player to the team using data and a story of why they were chosen for this particular role. LEAD will also help the new key player understand the personalities and roles of the team they are stepping into to speed up their integration into the team.
